Cyber Risks Implications for the Insurance Industry in Canada

Canada is one of the most wired countries in the world. Statistics Canada reports that in 2013, 89 percent of Canadian businesses used the Internet, and nearly every enterprise used some form of information technology.6 The Canadian Internet Registration Authority found that 87 percent of Canadian households were connected to the Internet in 2013, the second highest rate among the G-7 nations.7 The Authority also found that the number of web pages visited each month by Canadians is the highest in the world, and the average time spent online is second highest.
