While most cyber-attacks aim to achieve financial gain, the consequences of a successful attack on a mission-critical communications network can be far more damaging, even life threatening. New, advanced services are being enabled by IP-based broadband networks and made available to public safety and other mission-critical users. The openness of such networks increases the risks with regards to the cyber-threat, calling for the right security designs, safeguards and continuous pro-active security operations.
