The state of software security in 2018 is marginally better than what it was in 2017, but there is still lots of room to improve, according to the 2018 State of Software Security report from CA's Veracode division. Among the high-level findings in the SOSS report is that 69 percent of discovered flaws were remediated or mitigated by organizations, which is a 12 percent improvement over the 2017 report. Veracode, a leading global provider of application security testing solutions, has released new findings that show the public sector has the highest proportion of security flaws in its applications and maintains some of the lowest and slowest fix rates compared to other industry sectors. Analysis of data collected from 20 million scans across half a million applications revealed these sector-specific findings as part of Veracode’s annual report on the State of Software Security (SOSS).
