Managed Detection & Response for Operational Technology (OT): A Roundtable for CIOs and Security Professionals

SHARE

In 2023, more respondents to S&P Global’s 451 Research Voice of the Enterprise: Information Security Budgets and Outlook survey reported growth in spending for managed security services than any other area of the cybersecurity market. Managed Detection and Response (MDR) is a focus of much of this growth, to improve performance and deliver reliable expertise in recognizing and responding to threats before they have a damaging impact.

But respondents also have concerns about their available options for these services. Among the most significant: limitations on technologies with which their provider can integrate. This may be a particularly important concern among organizations with a substantial investment in operational technology (OT). While many organizations have implemented security measures for their IT environments, OT environments may have been left lacking or even untouched. While network segregation of operational environments and other assets may be in place or in progress, a comprehensive strategy demands much more.

There are, however, MDR providers that can respond to the need. In this virtual roundtable, Information Security and OT analysts with S&P Global Market Intelligence join a powerhouse of panelists to outline a primer on MDR for OT. Understanding that CIOs and security and IT professionals are in various stages of securing their OT environments, the panel of experts from GE Aerospace, Nozomi Networks, DeepSeas, and Booz Allen Hamilton will frame the discussion as a primer on OT Security, and how MDR can be a strategic enabler. They will discuss the unique risks in OT environments, and how an MDR provider can integrate OT with a comprehensive threat detection and response strategy.
