Following the “8 Ways to Avoid the Cybersecurity Grinch” blog post, it seems like a follow-up is in order given the recent Marriott Breach disclosure. It is important to note that when we travel, similar to when we shop, we are putting our trust in the organizations we are dealing with during our trip. While we can follow most (if not all) of the 8 items listed in the previous post, we are still at the mercy of these organizations. There are a few simple things we can do/think about when we are on our travels. Use a VPN, either one provided by your company or a personal one. Avoid using the systems in the business center to login to personal accounts (i.e. Check-in at the airport or using the app on your cell phone). Assume that all the systems, including in-room entertainment, are not secure.
