HACKER TO DUMP 1 BILLION RECORDS ONLINE: HOW CAN YOU PROTECT YOURSELF?
A hacker, who goes by the name Gnosticplayers, has made it his goal to put up for sale the data of over 1 billion users.  According to a ZDNet article, he is getting close to that end goal, after releasing 65.5 million records last week, for a grand total of 932 million records since February. Gnosticplayers has been responsible for hacking 44 different companies, including 500px, UnderArmor, ShareThis, GfyCat, and MyHeritage.  Since mid-February, the hacker has been putting batches of hacked data on Dream Market, a dark web marketplace for selling illegal products, such as guns, drugs, and hacking tools. Last week’s batch was the 5th data dump. ZDNet interviewed the hacker after the release of Round 3 in February, and the hacker was very candid about the reasons behind his sudden appearance in the public's eye. While Dream Market is a dark web site, many consider it public, as many people from law enforcement, journalists, and employees of many cyber-security firms use this site.
